I took my crisp smile out into the november rain
Wearing praises to God
To collect autumn blossoms from the trees.
I came away from my work with
Cold hands but a hot chocolate heart.
It was a very fruitful harvest,
Each leaf a colorful kiss from the Creator
Some I clipped from the branch
Others I gathered from the ground
Where they'd fallen
All of them are magnificent,
Delicate, but oh so strong,
Able to endure more cold, more wind,
More november rain
Than I care to experience.
But there was one jewel I reaped
That is a treasure all by itself
Greater than the others, big as a pumpkin
A spectrum of calm soothing brown
With just a little bit of green
(The color of promise) remaining.
It captured my attention right away
And I picked it up off the ground
Though it's much too big for me to
Include with the bouquet of autumn fruit
I plan to preserve to cheer my winter days:
So the biggest kiss
I was blessed to collect this autumn
I'm going to save for you,
